Row houses & Small Multi-residential

Do you have bigger real estate aspirations for greater returns on your investment? Studio Wolf knows the ins and outs of local codes and zoning bylaws to help you find the right land-use designation and building configuration to increase density and profit. Whether the units are side-by-side, in a row, or stacked, we know how to make them fit and look good doing it.

NOTE: Under the National Building Code, Alberta Edition, Studio Wolf is allowed to design buildings with up to four units. Buildings with more than four units, require a registered Architect to be involved.

Renovations, Additions & Secondary Suites

Looking to update or expand your current living space? Or perhaps you’d like to generate some additional revenue with a rent-able secondary suite or laneway home?

Together with Studio Wolf’s expertise, we can transform your current property to fit your needs and lifestyle.

Conceptual Design

It all starts with your ideas, which is why we take the time to explore them and how they might best be used to accomplish your vision. From here, Studio Wolf conducts a site analysis to determine the parameters that will define the designs best suited to your vision.

If your ideas don’t align with the current zoning of your property, Studio Wolf can explore your rezoning/change-of-use options to ensure you achieve the highest value of your investment.

Development Permits & Community Engagement

Once the conceptual plan is ready, design will be further refined to a greater level of detail - allowing conversations about materials and finishes to be started, while working with your builder to refine the construction budget.

Building Permit & Construction

With an approved DP in hand, construction documentation begins. This highly technical and collaborative phase of design is to ensure all aspects of the construction of your project have been thoroughly considered from all perspectives.

Studio Wolf will coordinate with your contractor, engineers, and other consultants to ensure the final drawings are harmonious and meet all life-safety, structural, and energy performance requirements ensuring both you and your construction team are confident in moving forward!

Commercial Spaces and Buildings

Have you found a space ready for your new business venture? Or maybe your business has outgrown its current location? Or perhaps you want to develop a piece of land for commercial, retail or industrial uses? Regardless of the scope, Studio Wolf can help either directly or through its collaborative team members.

NOTE: Studio Wolf is required to have professional involvement (registered architectural professional or registered engineering professional) as outlined Under the National Building Code, Alberta Edition, Section 2.4.2 Professional Involvement.

Supportive Services

Are you a registered professional (Architect), interior designer or a business that requires support to complete your project? Studio Wolf Designs can help you with your project and provide drafting services to ensure your project meets its deadlines.

Small Projects

Have you been wanting to build a new garage for your car? Or a new deck to BBQ and hang out on? Or finish that basement in the ultimate home entertainment or home office? Or perhaps you need a new shop or outbuilding on your acreage or farm. Studio Wolf can help you with all these small projects.

Landscape Design

Studio Wolf doesn’t just consider the space within; it looks at the outside space as well. This is an integral part of your home or business. Curb appeal has a dramatic impact on someone’s first impression of your home and business. We design these outdoor spaces for your family to enjoy or to welcome clients. Studio Wolf lays the foundation and then hands the concept over to our friends at Backyards and More to not only complete the design and provide guidance to maintain those spaces.

Design Build & Project Management

Studio Wolf will complete a select handful of design builds each year. Alternatively, Studio Wolf can manage the construction of your already completed design.

Building Code Analysis

While some building codes are international, most are modified based on your specific jurisdiction. It’s important to have a nuanced understanding of your local regulations before the project gets underway, and that’s where Studio Wolf comes in.

Our collaborative team is proud to offer our clients in-depth building code analysis to ensure their building projects go off without a hitch.

  • Occupancy Classification

Essentially, the occupancy classification outlines how the building will be used. Restaurants and Warehouses, for example, have very different functions and will require different approaches to safety.

  • Location

Location determines where the building will be situated on your property and its safety in this location. This also includes the number of streets the building will face.

  • Construction Type

The construction type determines how the project will be built, the kind of materials that will be used, and the risks these methods and materials pose to the structure itself.

  • Sprinklers

While not all buildings require the use of sprinklers, they are often the cheapest way to help your facility meet fire safety codes. Thinking about sprinklers and installing them from the get-go is also recommended to save time and money.

  • Floor Area

The allowable square footage that the building code allows.

  • Means of Egress

Once the abovementioned factors have been considered, a safe pathway out of the building, or several depending on how many people will be using the space, needs to be determined.
